IQ Server Tune Up and NGS-IQ Desktop Modules Workshop

Workshop Lesson Description: Do you own a license (or two or three) of Qport Access and/or SmartView but have not deployed these NGS-IQ modules or are not using all their capabilities? This lecture-style Workshop is a valuable opportunity to expand your reporting skills and quickly get up to speed in using all the bells and whistles provided in these modules. In addition, we’ll show you how to simplify running reports from desktop icons or hyperlinks in Windows applications and scheduling IQ queries to run right from your PC! Other lessons include output from IQServer (IQ Client, Qport Builder) to PDF, XML, HTML, email distribution.

Profile of Attendee: Current and potential users of these modules (no product knowledge is required) and IT staff.

Class Time:   3 hours

Description of Lessons:

1.

Enhance Microsoft Excel reporting: Output one or multiple queries to workbooks, sheets, and named ranges; save formatting; append or replace data in sheets and ranges.

2.

Link Excel spreadsheets to other Windows applications: For example, PowerPoint presentations of charts and graphs created from Excel output are automatically updated when the query is re-run.

3.

Create SmartView reports and graphs: Use the report layout, create multiple views or presentations from one query to reduce future query revision, filter records in SmartView for specific analysis or graph needs, highlight critical values, drag and drop format, create graphs using the Chart Designer or Chart Wizard, design and save graph templates, copy SmartView data to Windows applications, and save as a PDF.

4.

Use .IQPs to simplify report processing for users: Design desktop report folders for frequently run reports or create hyperlinks in Windows applications (e.g., Excel spreadsheet) to run NGS-IQ queries so users can simply click on hyperlinks for their reports.

5.

Daisy-chain two or more queries to run directly from Qport Access.

6.

Create and update DB2 files with transfer to host feature of Qport Access: If you have non-DB2 data that is needed on your IBM i for query creation, this secure transfer makes this a breeze and eliminates manual data entry.

7.

Schedule NGS-IQ reports to run from your PC using the Windows Task Scheduler.

8.

Create PDF output.

9.

Create drillable HTML reports.

10.

Distribute reports via e-mail and messages to cellular phones.

11.

Design XML files.
