Sacramento, California... January 3, 2005... New Generation Software, Inc. (NGS), a respected developer of proven solutions for the IBM iSeries, is pleased to announce a new addition to its NGS-IQ business intelligence product suite – the NGS Business Performance Dashboard, a complete dashboard development and deployment solution.
The NGS Business Performance Dashboard consists of a dashboard development module, plus a starter kit of dashboards for sales, marketing, finance, and human resources management. Furnished with each template are supporting DB2 data marts on the iSeries, NGS-IQ queries, Excel spreadsheets, and XML files.
“A picture – or in this case, a dashboard – is worth a thousand words, because it instantly conveys how the enterprise is performing, much more effectively than a report with absorbent amounts of numerical or tabular data,” explains NGS President and CEO, Bernard Gough. “Senior executive and other dashboard users can monitor the areas where they need to focus their attention and selectively use the full power of the NGS-IQ solution to dig deeper in those areas when the data warrants further analysis.”
The NGS Business Performance Dashboard gives users the ability to view and interact with live business data in a flexible, graphical format through their Web browser. Dashboard elements can include charts, tables, gauges, maps, and other visualization tools. Decision makers can view up-to-the-minute key performance indicators and scorecards for their organization, identify trends and locate exceptions, and compare multiple charts to contrast performance, such as actual versus target.
A business analyst, running Windows 2000 or XP and Microsoft Office 2003, can quickly become a productive dashboard developer. No programming is required. Dashboards are updated by using the NGS-IQ product to refresh the underlying Excel sheets and/or XML files. Finished dashboards can be published on a Web server as Macromedia Flash files, distributed via e-mail, and even exported to PowerPoint or Outlook as needed.
Users of the resulting dashboards require no training; they only need an Internet connection and the royalty-free Macromedia Flash Player software. Once the users are inside the Flash file, they can use powerful Flash components to create “what-if” scenarios, filter across various business dimensions, and more. Updates to the dashboards can be scheduled to run automatically from the iSeries or Windows server.
With over 20,000 iSeries users across the globe, NGS has been an industry leader since 1982 in developing high performance, field-proven software for midrange users. The cost-effective, scalable NGS-IQ product line includes solutions for advanced query, enterprise reporting, desktop OLAP analysis, business analytic starter kit, and data mart and warehouse development. NGS-IQ is an IBM-approved business intelligence solution in the “IBM Application Development Tools Network for iSeries” and a designated IBM ServerProven® Solution.
