(NGS) announces Decision Assist – Healthcare, a new reporting and analytical solution for community hospitals, clinics, and healthcare ISV's who use the IBM System i and need to improve accountability and the ability to communicate time-sensitive performance data to administrative and clinical staff.
The solution, developed with NGS’ business intelligence application development tools, integrates with and enhances the presentation of DB2 data through the use of Adobe Flash and Microsoft Office software. It includes a Web portal, performance dashboards, multi-dimensional models, Excel spreadsheets and reports, all built over a pre-defined DB2 data mart on the System i. Decision Assist – Healthcare supports i5/OS V5R1 and above.
Training is available to assist customers and ISV’s with the integration of Decision Assist – Healthcare to their System i-based hospital information systems applications. However, NGS offers a fully-integrated version of Decision Assist – Healthcare to users of Siemens Medical Solutions MedSeries4 software. - Patient Visits by Physician, Visits, and Revenue by Patient Type
- Revenue by Financial Class with Charges and Expected Reimbursements by Patient Type
- Charges and Payments by Financial Class by Patient Type, Expected Revenue, Patient Payments, and Insurance Payments
- Minimum, Maximum, and Average Length of Stay by Admitting Day of the Week, by Physician, by DRG, and Age of Patient
- Average Inpatient Stay Lengths by 30 Day Period, Date, and Week
Reports that output to Excel spreadsheets, NGS-IQ’s OLAP module, PDF, HTML, and more include Monthly Revenue by Financial Class, Primary Insurance Carrier, Patient Type, and Charge Number; Outpatient Revenue and Visits; Charge Details by Patient; Patient Charges Exceeding Entered Amount; Top Charges by Service; Length of Stay; Patient Insurance Payments; Length of Stay by Insurance Carrier; Mortality Rate; DRG by Group; DRG Analysis; and Patient DRG Days.

HIPAA, PCI, or other compliance concerns can be addressed by licensing NGS’ IQ SeQure security management system with Decision Assist – Healthcare to control data access at the field and record level by user. This module also enables the hospital to block specific users from functions such as FTP, e-mail, and downloading data to Windows. Third-party data encryption software may also be integrated into the reporting solution so customers can encrypt and decrypt data elements as needed when running reports.
