Timely access to the vital information contained in your System i (AS/400) database is of primary importance to executives and end users. They need access for decision making and research purposes, but you still need to comply with internal control policies and/or regulatory mandates. The IQ SeQure security management module of NGS-IQ™ gives you the ability to balance the need for access with the need for control.
IQ SeQure features quick implementation and maximum flexibility—all without programming! By using the “Include” or “Exclude” feature when establishing your database or query authority access, you can quickly develop a superior security system for your organization.
Database Security
IQ SeQure extends the security features of i5/OS so you can establish profiles that control database access at the DB2 library, file (table), field, and record level. You can also secure queries against unauthorized modification and execution. By controlling access at the field level, you can restrict specific users or groups of users from including specific fields in their reports.
With record level control, a single report without modification will return different records for different users, based on their authority. This means a single query can serve the needs of multiple users in different territories, divisions, etc. if the structure of their report is otherwise the same.
Query Security
IQ SeQure provides query security by giving you control of user access to the following:
- Selected libraries
- Selected queries in a library
- Selected menu options
Security officer control of the query execution environment includes the following:
- Run Environment—Batch/Interactive/Both
- Job Timeslice
- Job Priority

NGS-IQ was designed from the ground up to work hand-in-hand with IBM’s i5/OS security at all levels, whether you are accessing your data from a Windows, Web browser, or 5250 user interface. NGS-IQ enforces your security policies on the System i and does not use ODBC to connect to your database.
